Lymphatic Health

Living with lymphoedema can be complicated enough, but there certain areas of our lymphatic system we rarely talk about, let alone understand.  So from a non-medical perspective lets try and demystify this important system.

I have long wanted to explain different aspects of the Lymphatic System and how it affects our lymphatic health and our overall health.  Not easy to put into practical terms from a non-medical perspective so that everyone understands. However, we can use this knowledge to improve our health, selfcare and wellbeing.

Peyer's Patches

​I found writing about Peyer’s Patches more of a challenge to write about in a non-medical format so that it is easier to understand their function.  They are situated in the lower area of the small intestine and work to decide which food is friendly and which is harmful as the food passes through the gastrointestinal tract.  The cells within these areas identify antigens and decide if foods are harmful bacteria or whether they provide the nutrients we need and pass signals to the intestinal tract
